Steve is an official NRHA Judge and Commentator. He has an eclectic background, traveling the world as a clinician and coach sharing his message of solid horsemanship with a low key approach that ha consistently proven to produce outstanding results.
In addition to judging, coaching and training, Steve is also an experienced radio and broadcasting personality and can often be seen interviewing competitors and commentating from the largest reining competitions in the world. Steve has worked for and learned from many of the top trainers in the industry. Doug Milholland-NRHA Futurity Champion, Bill Horn-NRHA Futurity Champion, Winston Hansma-NCHA Futurity Champion and Tommy Manion who had 35 AQHA World Championships. He believes in a solid foundation on all his young horses and is well known and respected within the field, having produced several of the highest selling horses at the most prestigious reining horse sales.
In addition to consigning horses into sales, Steve and his wife Boo have created a super unique sales program that is becoming hard to beat. Sales prep, marketing, placement and more are all options. The customer and the horse always come first at SR Reining and Performance Horses. Steve will always give you an honest evaluation of your horses ability and the best course of action to ensure you and your horses success.
Boo Ross
Barn Manager
Boo Ross is a Native of the UK, a product of the Pony Club and parents who were very involved in the horse world. Climbing up through the ranks in Pony Club, Boo competed in Showjumping and Eventing to the highest level, before switching disciplines to produce and show English Show and Working Hunters, winning at most major events in the UK. As an accredited British Horse Society Instructor, she spent many hours teaching the next generation of the Pony Club and coaching teams to many national success.
A huge life change saw her emigrate to South Africa, where she continued to expand her equine knowledge, playing polo cross, managing racing broodmare/stud farms and training movie stunt horses, before landing a job managing the prestigious Sundancer Stud in Howick, Kwa Zula Natal. Sundancer is the largest dedicated reining horse breeding farm on the African Continent, and where Boo found her passion for the western disciplines and the versatile American Quarter Horse. This is also where she met Steve, who was conducting clinics and coaching across South Africa.
In 2015 Boo moved to the USA and began to manage the business with Steve. The rest as they say is history! Now a nonpro, Boo enjoys riding her own 3 horses, and managing both WildCat Ranch and Steve Ross Reining & Performance horses. Boo is Responsible for all the Photos and Videos you see of the sales horses and most of the Social Media and advertising. In what little spare time she has, she is a huge advocate for rescue dogs and volunteers for several rescue organizations, both fostering and helping with training rescue dogs to find them suitable permanent homes.
