A Special Day: A Girl and Her Horse

Many of you will remember a few weeks ago we listed a beautiful unicorn palomino gelding called Fabio. Fabio had some changes in his hocks which meant we didn’t want to see him go to a reining home and be pushed beyond his physical capabilities. We had over 900 applications for Fabio offering him a forever home! It was a giant task to wade through them all to pick the right home. But one young lady stood out and we all agreed that if the two of them get along that was his home.

Janet Hoo saw Fabio and told Steve all about her daughter Kira. Kira was adopted from Kazakstan as an infant, Janet knowing that she was autistic and may never communicate. Janet understanding the power horses can play in development, introduced Kira to horses at a young age, and it made so much positive difference to their lives. Janet eventually found Kira a wonderful (and famous) retired reining horse by the name of “Fuzzy”. Their relationship was strong and he taught Kira so much. Sadly Fuzzy passed away last year and Janet has been hunting and hunting for just the right horse to fill the void in Kira’s heart. The search for a new horse seemed hopeless and one disappointing viewing after another meant they had all but given up, till Janet spotted Fabio’s video.

Janet and her daughter Kira set out the very next morning to arrive at our barn at 6am. The Instant bond between the two of them was truly incredible. Fabio sensed that Kira’s love was completely selfless and genuine and he embraced it. They rode around together and Kira’s confidence grew as big as her beautiful smile and we all knew this was exactly the home Fabio would spend the rest of his life. There wasn’t a dry eye in the barn!

We can’t thank Fabio’s former owner Tracey Heeter Allen enough for allowing us to do exactly what was best for Fabio and for her loving him enough to truly want only the best for him.

We wish Kira and Fabio many years of happy riding and lots of love, and we look forwards to your visits each week together for your lessons. We know you are going to be a great team.
